The Process of Transformation

A caterpillar begins its life crawling from leaf to leaf, eating its way through leaves. Then an inner urge causes it to spin a cocoon and if it doesn’t respond to this urge, it will die. However, if the caterpillar can spin this cocoon around itself, after a certain period it will emerge, completely transformed as a beautiful butterfly.

How does this relate to you and me?

We begin our journey here on earth concerned with the worries of life – food, houses, careers, and status and just trying to cope in a volatile world to name a few. But while we eat our way through the twists and turns of life when we are not looking, there creeps up on us a trauma that ‘cracks’ through the many layers of our lives. We come face to face with ourselves and many of us experience that painful experience known as the Dark Night of the Soul.

It is at this point that we have a choice. We can either continue as we are or spin ourselves a ‘cocoon’ to give ourselves time to examine and embrace the trauma and use it as a tool to transform both our inner and outer worlds.

If we are brave enough to do this, we emerge stronger, more centred, and a more beautiful being. We can fly to new heights – something we were never able to do in the past.

We are being transformed from our limiting beliefs into a more integrated and whole soul.
