November’s message – A Bumpy Ride

November’s full moon, called the Beaver Moon, occurs on Wednesday, 5th November… “Remember, remember the 5th of November, gunpowder, treason, and plot”… (for non-UK residents, this is the beginning of the poem about Guy Fawkes, who tried to blow up the English Houses of Parliament in 1605).

The Beaver Moon is given this name because, traditionally, this was when the beavers would construct their dams and gather and store food for the coming winter. The other name for this full moon is the Frost Moon… no need to guess as to why…brr!

This is the second of three consecutive Super Moons – and the closest the Moon will orbit the Earth during 2025.

At the beginning of the month, we also celebrate Samhain in the Northern Hemisphere and Beltane in the Southern Hemisphere.

Samhain is a fire festival of letting go and of remembrance, whereas Beltane reminds us of the joy of living. Happy celebrations to you all, and please click on the links to learn more about how you can celebrate these fire festivals.

From Spirit, the message is that during November, life might get a bit bumpy and feel chaotic.

What may happen during the next few weeks?

You may find yourself in the midst of a sudden and unexpected personal and/or global crisis. It may feel like some part of your life has collapsed or broken down, and life may feel incredibly stormy and overwhelming. You may come face to face with burnout, struggle or suffering.

Why are things feeling bumpy or crumbling around you?

Life’s storms are there to focus our attention. It’s time to break through the illusions. This is a time of great change and transformation. David wrote in Psalm 23, “Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil”.

What can we do?

  • Being forewarned is forearmed, so that you can recognise and identify when it feels like ‘your life has fallen off a cliff’.
  • Be honest with yourself – what old pains, beliefs, or pent-up emotions are shouting at you to be recognised and acknowledged.
  • Release pent-up emotions positively – breathwork, going for a walk in nature, scream or cry.
  • Acknowledge what has been holding you back, and accept that you have been limiting yourself. Be kind to yourself, rather than judging or being angry with yourself.
  • Despite the chaos, keep your centre.

Here is an affirmation to help when you may feel overwhelmed.

“I have the ability to stay poised and centred, regardless of what goes before me”

If we can keep centred, we can move forward in a new way.

If we look back on our lives, we can see that times of great challenge and struggle have often led to new directions and have been a blessing in disguise. Now is one of those times, so once we accept reality and allow for change, we can begin to heal and move forward in a new way.

I wish you peace during this stormy time.
