August 2026 – Your Spiritual Gifts

The Message from the Earth

On Saturday 1st August we are reminded of the turning of the Wheel of the Year.

In the Northern Hemisphere, Lughnasadh (the first harvest) is a celebration of the fertility of the land, while in the Southern Hemisphere, the festival of Imbolc celebrates the return of the light after a long winter.

The Message from the Sky

An exciting solar eclipse takes place on Wednesday 12th August. Greenland, Iceland and Spain will be lucky enough to see a total eclipse, but a partial eclipse will be seen from Canada in the West, Norway in the North and Prague in the East. This will include Western Europe.

A solar eclipse is when the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth, blocking the Sun’s rays.

On Friday 28th August, we will see the Sturgeon Moon rising in the East. This full moon will also be a lunar eclipse (also called a Blood Moon), when the Earth moves between the Sun and the Moon, casting a shadow on the Moon.

Other names for this moon are the Green Corn Moon and the Grain Moon, as this is the time of the first harvest in the Northern Hemisphere.

Eclipses are seen as gateways for personal growth.

They signify a period of great change and clarity.

The fact that we will experience both a solar and lunar eclipse in the same month, a mere fortnight apart, informs us that this is a time of immense energy – an opportunity to jump forward spiritually – and a time to raise our vibration into greater light, love, peace and truth.

The Message for Us

Spiritually, August invites us to dive into a new emotional chapter. This could be:

  • New intuition
  • A new relationship
  • A new social connection
  • A new dream
  • A new feeling of compassion for yourself and for others
  • A new spiritual gift

In dreams, water symbolises the spiritual aspect of our lives;  this is the expression of our soul.

In Tarot, water symbolises emotions and feelings. Being creative is an expression of your soul – your essence, and expressing yourself connects you to your heart.

What spiritual gifts were you given when you were born? Everyone is given at least one gift. So, what are you naturally drawn to?

  • How do you express your creativity?
  • How does your soul express itself?
  • How do you express love and connection with other people?

Spiritual gifts include:

  • Teaching
  • Spiritual leadership (empowering others to deal with their own problems)
  • Healing (various modalities)
  • Prophecy
  • Channelling spiritual guidance from a non-physical being
  • Clairvoyance (spiritual seeing in the mind’s eye)
  • Clairaudience (spiritual hearing from another dimension)
  • Claircognizance (spiritual knowing)
  • Clairolfaction (smelling odours that are not physically present)
  • Clairaugustince (tasting something when you haven’t eaten anything)
  • Clairtangency (the ability to touch an item and receive psychic impressions)
  • Clairsentience (to receive physical sensations in the body, to explain and understand what someone else is experiencing)
  • Mediumship (connecting with departed loved ones, and ancestors)
  • Dream interpretation
  • Working with crystals
  • Counselling

One way to discover a spiritual gift is through creative pursuits or hobbies.

What are you naturally drawn to?

This could include: designing, painting, singing, dancing, playing music, composing music, writing, reading & writing poetry, gardening, sewing, knitting, craftwork, photography, drawing, sculpting, making candles, making cards, baking, cooking, carpentry, and journaling.

Another way to discover your gift is to sit in silence or meditation.

At the beginning of a meditation session, ask yourself what gift you are naturally drawn to. What gift makes your heart skip a beat?

Then let go of thinking and just breathe. Follow the breath; inhale for 6, exhale for 6. Do this for several minutes until the mind starts to quieten. When the mind wanders, smile at the thought and let it go. Bring the mind back to the present, to the body, and allow yourself to receive guidance that just drops into your heart.

When the answer comes, it may be immediate, take a few days, or even come in a dream. The key is to have an open heart and to say thank you for the answer when it arrives.

Remember that your gift will bring a feeling of joy, of excitement, and of inner peace.

Then ask the Universe to nudge you about when, where, how, or with whom you can start practising using your gift.

It is time to let the water of life in – how will you choose to express who you are?

August is a time of joy and of new potential, so enjoy this time and celebrate discovering a new aspect of who you are.

I hope you enjoy the song ‘Happy’ by Pharrell Williams and feel free to dance, clap and sing along.

Yours in the sacred waters of life,

Bright blessings and profound peace,

/I
