December 2025 – Introspection and Renewal

December brings

  • the final supermoon of the year
  • midwinter or midsummer celebrations
  • a message of introspection and renewal

Cold Moon

Supermoon

December’s full supermoon, called the Cold Moon, occurs on Thursday, 4th December. A supermoon is closer to the Earth in orbit and appears larger. It also affects the tides.

This is the third and last of three consecutive Super Moons – and the closest the Moon will orbit the Earth during 2025.

On the 21st of December, we will celebrate the Winter Solstice, or if you are in the Southern Hemisphere, then happy Summer Solstice to you!

From Spirit, the message is that after the turbulence of November, December will be a time of quiet introspection and inner searching.

November was a challenging month! We were forewarned, and boy, did it deliver!

When we suffer and reflect on a personal crisis of some type, we discover that the purpose of the turbulence is to crack us open. As Rumi says, ‘the wound is where the light enters’.

The hermit

The Hermit

(the snake of inner transformation at his feet)

In tarot, the hermit stands on the top of a mountain, shining his light and reflecting on his journey. At his feet, we see a snake.

The snake is one of the oldest symbols of transformation. The snake can shed its skin as it grows, and this symbolises getting rid of the old self and discovering a new self.

  • In Hinduism and Buddhism, the snake is linked to kundalini energy, a spiritual energy which sits at the base of the spine, and when it awakens, it rises and causes enlightenment.

  • In ancient Mayan culture, the feathered serpent god Quetzalcoatl symbolised a union of Earth and sky as well as enlightenment.
  • Carl Jung stated that in dreams, the snake represented the unconscious that needed to be made conscious and in so doing, created healing.

  • The ouroboros (the snake eating its own tail) is a symbol for infinity and how the cosmos is cyclical.

  • The double-headed serpent (caduceus) originated in Ancient Greece and was a symbol of the healing temples of Asclepios on the island of Kos.

In the quantum universe (of which we are all a part), a feedback loop exists that says that our thoughts create behaviours, and our behaviours create experiences.

Our experiences create our emotions, and this feeds back to our thoughts again.

What we think, therefore, creates our reality.

Change your thoughts… and you change your reality.

According to Olly on his website OliverWedgwood.com “your subconscious mind holds the key to your past, present and future experiences in life.

What you are experiencing NOW in your life is a reflection of what’s happening in your subconscious.”

Therefore, if we want to transform our lives, we must change our thoughts. We have to be like the snake and shed the old thoughts and what we think about ourselves.

  • Who do you want to be?
  • How can you think about yourself or the situation differently?

This is an exhilarating time of awakening. People all over the world are waking up to the idea that they can create a new reality for themselves. They can create a whole new identity by shedding the old thoughts, behaviours and experiences of self-doubt, criticism, anger, hatred and fear, and emerge as a new being filled with light, peace, love and freedom.

How do we step into a new reality?

Trust your heart, and it will lead you true. But to do this, we need to quieten the monkey mind so that we can hear the whispers of our heart.

Here is a self-compassion meditation from Olly to help you to get started.

With blessings of light and love,

Lee-Anne
