April New Moon (Aries 2)
The new moon is on Thursday 20th April 2023, and is the second new moon in the fiery energy of Aries. The new moon also coincides with a rare hybrid solar eclipse.

According to NASA, a hybrid solar eclipse is a combination of a total and annular eclipse. What does this mean?
A total solar eclipse is when the moon passes between the sun and the earth. This only happens occasionally because the moon doesn’t orbit on the same plane as the earth and the sun.
An annular solar eclipse is when the moon is at its furthest point away from the earth, so when the moon blocks the sun, it doesn’t completely cover the sun and we see a ring of fire around the moon.
Because the earth’s surface is curved, the moon’s shadow can move between a total and annular eclipse causing this rare hybrid solar eclipse.
Even though the eclipse may only be seen in some parts of the world, it is important to remember that the effects are felt everywhere, so we do need to take note of such rare energetic events.
Eclipses heighten and shake up the energy so we can feel unsettled and agitated during these times.
Furthermore, the Jungian archetype of Aries is that of the warrior and also signifies beginnings and endings.
This is mirrored by the April Tarot card, when we were given The Devil. This encouraged us to look at our shadows and examine why the subconscious created them to protect us. Once we understand this, we can release these negative patterns.
The eclipse will happen mere hours before the sun moves from fiery Aries into grounded Taurus.
As we move into Taurus we will have the opportunity to become more grounded and learn to centre ourselves in new ways.
New opportunities in the area of finance and money could become available to us, so it is important to change and grow as we prepare to move into this new energy.
