New moons call us to go inward and become thoughtful as we have the opportunity to reset our intentions and plans for the coming month.
The archetype of Capricorn is the energy of the ruler and builder – one who accomplishes and achieves worldly success.

Capricorn is an earth sign and symbolises the grounded yet self assured leader. This mountain goat has the energy and the endurance that enables it to climb to the top of the mountain, sure footed and confident!
During the month of December, we were encouraged to choose between a tried and tested option versus trying something completely new and different (see the December Tarot card message). The result, regardless of which option we chose, encouraged us that if we worked hard, we would be successful.
The energy of Capricorn and the angel message for December (the 7 of Pentacles) therefore fit together perfectly. The message is that if we dare to dream something, then set our intention, take practical steps, work hard, overcome obstacles and ‘keep going’, then the Universe will be there to support us, and we will achieve success.
As we step into the New Year, it is a time for resolutions. However, these intentions are so often dropped out of boredom, fear, distraction and self-doubt. We tend to freeze and give up before we’ve even begun, leading to disappointment and a feeling of failure.
Practical steps to help encourage success and achievement include:
- Have a dream board and put it up where you’ll look at it every day
- Break your goal down into smaller, achievable steps
- Ask yourself if each step is measurable (specific) – how will you know when you’ve achieved that step?
- Celebrate each small step
