This is a time of great change!
This morning I asked for a Tarot message that would show what we need to be aware of for the month of July.
The result was The Wheel of Fortune.
Wheel of Fortune
The Wheel of Fortune Card and what it means
Let’s look at the card a little closer …
When we look at the card from Juliet Sharman-Burke’s deck, we see the goddess Fortuna (the goddess of chance) in a purple robe. She stands in the middle of the wheel of life and turns it, even though she is blindfolded.
Around the wheel we see people in various stages of success or struggle. On the left, the man is holding on while the wheel turns upward for him. At the top sits a man with a crown. But then on the right a man is hanging on while the wheel turns down and at the bottom of the card, the man has fallen off the wheel altogether onto his hands, and knees.
Life is full of ups and downs, and we don’t always see these coming (symbolised by the blindfold).
Fortuna wears purple, the colour of wisdom. The message is that regardless of where we find ourselves on the wheel on any given day, the most important thing to remember is that we are to stay in the centre of the wheel i.e. stay centred in ourselves.
Times are Changing
This is a time of great transition and change on Earth.
There are great leaps forward, and people are waking up to who they are in new ways. But then there are also times of great struggle and bewilderment and times of mental fog and emotional breakdown.
Now is not the time to resist these changes (positive or negative), but rather, we are being encouraged to try to go with the flow and learn from these experiences.
Have you ever had something ‘bad’ happen to you, that took you on a different path or changed your thinking for the better? This ‘bad’ thing turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
I encourage you to journal about your circumstances, how you feel about them, and what you can learn about yourself from them.
The Story of ‘Good Luck, Back Luck, Who Knows’
There is a traditional Chinese story of an old farmer who lived many years ago.
He had one old horse that he used to plough his fields.
One day, the horse ran away into the hills.
Everyone said, “We are so sorry for your bad luck.”
The old man replied, “Bad luck, good luck, who knows?”
A few days later, the horse returned with a herd of wild horses, which now belonged to the old man.
Everyone said, “We are so happy for your good luck!”
The old man replied, “Good luck, bad luck, who knows?”
While his only son was riding one of the wild horses, he fell off and broke his leg.
Everyone said, “What bad luck!”
The old man replied, “Bad luck, good luck, who knows?”
One day, the army came to the village, and conscripted all the young men as soldiers for the emperor.
Only the old farmer’s son was spared, because he could not fight with a broken leg.
Everyone said, “What good luck!”
The old man replied, “Good luck, bad luck, who knows?”
Journal Questions:
- Where am I on the Wheel of Fortune?
- Am I able to centre myself through both the good times and the struggles?
- What can I learn from this experience?
