The new moon occurs on Monday 20th February 2023 and marks the new energy of watery Pisces (the Fish).

New moons call us to go inward and become thoughtful as we have the opportunity to reset our intentions and plans for the coming month.
The Jungian archetype of Pisces is that of the dreamer or mystic; the one with creative visions. As Pisces is a water sign and water symbolises our feelings and emotions, we are encouraged to surrender and flow with the creative process.

During the month of February, we were invited to move a creative project or idea from our imagination into reality.
We were told that this would take courage like a lion (see Snow Moon) but firm foundations, determination and persistence would be rewarded.

Now as we shift into March, the archetypal energy of Pisces calls us to jump into the ‘water of life’ and flow with imagination and creativity.
Piscean energy is naturally empathic and open to downloads – ideas that ‘just popped into my mind’. It would be wise to turn to meditation, and contemplation of spiritual ideas to find the best outlet for this creative energy.
Meditation
What is Meditation?
Many people are under the mistaken impression that meditation is about shutting down thoughts, emptying the mind and even making way for ‘demons’ to enter and possess the person.
The truth is more loving than these fear tactics; fears that are designed to keep us feeling small and trapped in the never ending struggle, rather than expanding and finding freedom.
Freedom is not found ‘out there’, but rather to be found ‘in here’.
Meditation is about training the mind.
We have a million thoughts throughout the day, and it is sometimes hard to switch off. We are sometimes not even aware that we are ruminating – living in the either the past or the future. This causes our minds to go around in circles or jump from one thought to the next, without a break, creating imagined scenarios and conversations all in our minds.
The Buddhists call this ‘monkey mind’.
We need to give the monkey mind something to do to calm it down.
Meditation is about training the mind, just like we train muscles when we exercise.
This will bring true happiness and contentment as we become the master of our minds, rather than our minds being the master of us.
Here is a wonderful video by Tibetan Buddhist meditation master, Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche as he discusses the essence of meditation and how it helps us become more peaceful and loving within ourselves.
Meditation helps us in so many ways and the emotional and physical benefits of meditation can include:
- Better sleep
- Lower stress
- Lower heart rate
- Lower blood pressure
- Reduced anxiety
- Increased creativity
- Increased patience and tolerance
- Feeling happier and more at peace in ourselves
I invite you to give meditation a try.
Wishing you much light and love as always
