The full moon is on Tuesday 8th November 2022, and it is called the Beaver Moon.
Beavers
On this day we will also be experiencing an intense lunar eclipse, making the energy super charged!
This full moon is called the Beaver Moon because this was the time that the Native Americans trapped beavers for their warm winter fur.
Here in the Northern Hemisphere nature is preparing for the long, dark winters:
- Beavers build dams and prepare their lodges before the waters turn to ice
- Deer rut (mate)
- Bears dig out their winter dens in readiness for hibernation
- The frosts begin and the nights draw in
Lunar eclipses occur when the earth casts a shadow on the moon and blocks out the moon from our view.
Energetically the lunar eclipse gives us a super boost of opportunity to clear out the old and to move forward with the new.

What does this Full Moon ask us to consider?
During the New Moon we were asked to begin to examine our relationships – both with ourselves and others. We were reminded that relationships are a mirror to the soul and we were asked to become more aware of our emotions.
At the beginning of November we were then invited to begin to dream and become inspired. We were encouraged to incorporate and embrace that internal creative fire that calls us to be brave and bring forth into being a new project, energy or relationship.
Guidance for Journaling – Balance:
Please know that even though the energy is intense, it is still very important (fundamental) to create times of mental and emotional stillness, that allow the creative energy to birth inside us.
As we are nearing Christmas, it’s easy to get swept up in frantic preparations, gifts, travel plans, menus, and the expectations that the holiday season inevitably brings.
Remember however, that nature is turning inward and if we flow in alignment with the seasons, then perhaps we can choose to become more aware of being in our bodies and of living more simply, and with kindness to ourselves.
Creativity does not need to be frenetic and frantic. Rather it is in the quiet stillness that ideas and dreams are suddenly birthed.
The following meditation may help to centre you.
Questions to Journal on:
- What expectations do I feel from society, family, friends, and myself?
- Do I need to fulfil these expectations, or can I find the time and ‘headspace’ to let go and come back into my own body?
- How can I allow myself the time and space to turn inward to birth my dreams and allow my inspiration and creativity to flow?
Wishing you much light and love as always
