The full moon is on Sunday 21st July, and it is called the Buck Moon.
It is called the Buck Moon because this is the time of year when the antlers of the male deer (the buck) start to grow.
Buck Moon
Each Winter the buck shed their antlers. So at this time of year their new set of antlers will grow and will be larger and more impressive than the previous year. (As an aside: female deer do not lose their antlers during the Winter).
Astrologically, the sun is in the water sign of Cancer (the Crab) while the moon is still in the earth sign of Capricorn (the Goat).
Incidentally, these two signs are on opposite sides of the zodiac chart
Cancer
The nurturing crab
Capricorn
The ambitious goat
The nurturing energy of Cancer is that of the home and inner world, while the ambitious Capricorn seeks to find outward success as it climbs to the top of the mountains.
At the beginning of July, we were given the Three of Wands tarot card.
The man in the card is dressed for travel and he is looking out to the horizon, watching his ships sail towards the pyramids of Egypt.
He is embarking on a new adventure.
July
New Moon
Then during the July New Moon, we were encouraged to focus on cultivating emotional intelligence in our inner world.
We continue this theme, but now the focus turns outward to the world.
When we practice emotional intelligence, we create a stable inner foundation.
This provides the secret key to open the door to our creative ideas. We can rise to new heights of outward success when we walk through this door.
We can unlock the active masculine energy of ‘doing’ only because we have the stabilising balance of the emotional feminine energy of ‘being’.
It’s time to dream big and not hold back.
Dare to dream – and dare to DO IT!
