June 2025 Full Moon – Balancing Heart and Mind

The full moon is on Wednesday, 11th June 2025, and it is called the Strawberry Moon.

The Strawberry Moon marks the ripening of strawberries in the Northern Hemisphere. The flowers are blooming, and early fruit is starting to ripen.

It is also the time of the Summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere – a time of maximum outward energy, and the Winter solstice in the South – a time of deep, inner reflection.

Astrologically, the Sun is in airy and fun Gemini (the Twins) while the Moon is in the fiery sign of Sagittarius (the Archer).

The energy of Gemini is that of the messenger or communicator, while the optimistic and adventurous Sagittarius reminds us to look beneath the surface and become the explorer of our own lives.

What does this Full Moon ask us to consider?

During the New Moon, we were encouraged to cultivate joy and happiness. We were reminded of the words of the 14th Dalai Lama, that we can cultivate joy by finding inner peace and connecting with others.

As we learn to cultivate happiness and inner peace, we must take the time to look beneath the surface.

Sagittarius is the philosopher of the zodiac group, the curious one, seeking knowledge.

Philosophy is a Greek word meaning ‘the study of wisdom’.

What does it mean to be wise? The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines wisdom as ‘marked by deep understanding, keen discernment, and a capacity for sound judgment’.

Philosophy was designed to:

  • Help us to discover the truth about life and consciousness.
  • Help us make more conscious choices to find happiness and peace of mind.

Have you thought that you could study what it means to be happy?

René Descartes famously said, “I think, therefore I am”.

He is considered to be the father of rationalist thought.

Rationalism is based on the idea that reason and logical thought are superior to religious belief or emotional response.

However, here is a twist on rational thought: “I am, therefore I feel and I think”

‘I am’ means that I exist. I live.

If we are to live a beautiful and successful life, we cannot rely only on reason, but we must use our intuition and our hearts to find our path forward.

the heart

Did you know the heart has its own nervous system, separate from the brain? Furthermore, the heart has 40,000 neurons and connects to the brain via the vagus nerve.

To find happiness, we need to learn to:

  • Connect to both our hearts and minds.
  • Stop letting the mind be the controller, rather than the supporter.

How do we do this? Meditation.

Here is a definition of meditation:

I accept myself completely as I am.

As I learn to quiet the multitude of thoughts, I come to a place of acceptance.

Acceptance for who I am, exactly as I am (warts and all).

This is a place of no judgment.

I have started using mantras to help me meditate and focus on compassion and loving kindness. Here is one sung by Drukmo Gyal, and it is Om Mani Padme Hum.

The ‘Om Mani Padme Hum mantra’ is often chanted as a means of purifying one’s negative emotions, cultivating compassion, and developing wisdom, ultimately leading to a state of enlightenment.

I wish you love, light and blessings as you learn to discover the truth of who you are.
