The New Moon is on Wednesday 2nd October and the Moon has moved into the constellation of Libra (the Scales).

There is also a solar eclipse on Wednesday, but it will only be visible on Easter Island, Chile and the southern part of Argentina.

South America, the southern parts of North America, the Pacific Islands and the Antarctic will see a partial eclipse.

Eclipses are seen as a time of rebirth  as the Moon passes in front of the Sun, and then the Sun re-emerges from the other side.

Spiritually, eclipses call us to look inward.

If we turn inwards, we can see our lives more clearly than before, and we can be inspired to take a step forward.

The energy of Libra is the peacemaker or diplomat,

As Libra is an air sign and air symbolises our thoughts and ideas, now is the time to think smart and strive for fairness and balance.

The world seems spiky and off balance, so what we can do to create inner harmony?

Practice balance

Equanimity means composure or even-mindedness under stress.

Equanimity is not an emotion, rather it is a habit we can cultivate through meditation.

Habits take practice and practice means ‘showing up’ on a consistent basis.

Steps to forming a meditation habit

  1. Start small – set aside 5 – 10 minutes every day.
  2. Be consistent – show up every day.
  3. Reward yourself after the first few days.
  4. Be patient – habits take time (21 days) to form.
  5. Be accountable – tell others what you are trying to do and allow them to support you.
  6. Ask for help, strategies and encouragement – from others who are more experienced and who inspire you.

You might like to download a meditation app on your phone or find a YouTube channel that you resonate with.

Wayne Dyer said, “Being peaceful is an inner attitude that you can enjoy when you’ve learned to silence your incessant inner dialogue.”

With blessings of equanimity
